BMI can't tell fat from muscle. Your consultation includes an InBody scan that measures body fat, muscle mass and visceral fat — the numbers that actually matter.
Book a ConsultationBody Mass Index (BMI) divides your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared. The World Health Organization ranges are: under 18.5 underweight, 18.5–24.9 healthy, 25–29.9 overweight, 30 and above obese. It is a quick population-level screen, not a diagnosis.
BMI cannot tell muscle from fat, so a lean, well-trained person can read as “overweight” while someone with little muscle and high body fat can read as “healthy”. It also ignores where fat is stored — visceral fat around the organs is the kind that matters most for health. That is why every Elevate consultation starts with an InBody body-composition scan, which measures body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass and visceral fat directly.
If your BMI is above the healthy range, the most reliable route down is strength training two to three times a week plus a modest calorie deficit — use our calorie calculator to set it. If it is below, a structured plan to add muscle, not just weight, is the goal. Either way, a personal trainer in Muscat turns the number into a plan that fits your schedule, at any of our 7 private studios.
These figures are general guidance, not medical advice. If you are pregnant, under 18 or managing a medical condition, speak to your doctor before changing your diet or training.
